My Tour Of Luxury Resorts in Greece - Where Ancient Wonder Meets Modern Style
At EliteLYFE, we represent a hand-selected collection of luxury villas, resorts, and hotels in the most exclusive locations on the globe. While we’ve offered Greece as a destination for many years, the majority of properties we recommend are in the more well-known areas, mainly on the islands.
With that in mind, I recently took a trip to expand our range of properties in the country, inspecting a number of the luxury resorts in Greece which are perhaps not as obvious to the international community as the paradise islands.
Greece has always been one of my favorite destinations in Europe. It’s so unique and seems to have everything in abundance; Mediterranean-style white-washed hillside towns which roll down to the vibrant turquoise sea, artful contemporary accommodation, and the history one of the most celebrated ancient civilizations in the world.
I packed my bags (once again), and flew directly from LA to Athens. First stop? The brand-new Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel. I was totally blown away. Set on the beautiful Athens Riviera, this was one of the luxury resorts in Greece which ticked all those boxes.
Not only does the hotel enjoy the serenity of hidden coves and untouched golden beaches, it’s only 30 minutes from the center of Athens and a wealth of old-world gems to explore. Those interested in more information on the Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel can see our full review of this luxury resort in Athens.
After a full tour and inspection of the Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel, we set off driving into the heart of the mainland to a quaint town called Arachova. It gave me the opportunity to see a completely different side of Greece beyond the beaches. I was utterly stunned by the mountain scenery…
Here in the heart of the mainland, we took a tour of the picturesque countryside and a number of ancient towns. Near the lovely town of Delphi, I inspected the facilities of one of the luxury resorts in Greece which met the standards demanded by EliteLYFE clientele. The Santa Marina Resort & Spa is perfect for those who wish to see a different side of the country.
The next day, we set of early to head further north into the mainland, heading for one of the luxury resorts in Greece located in the little-known town of Kalabaka. It gave me the chance to get a real sense of the scope of the country as we toured the local area which included the impressive UNESCO-listed Meteora Monastery.
Up here, away from it all, the sense of peace and quiet was unlike anything I’d experienced in a mountain town. I stayed at the Divani Meteora Hotel in Kalabaka. It is one of the luxury resorts in Greece which I thoroughly recommend for anyone looking to explore the rich countryside.
The following day, we set off early to continue our tour of luxury resorts in Greece, this time heading for a more well-known destination: Thessaloniki. I was awake early and ready to go. As someone who works in international travel, I’d heard a lot about this town and I was eager to see for myself what all the rave reviews were about.
Upon arrival, I couldn’t stop smiling. It was everything I’d been lead to believe it would be. Thessaloniki sits on the coast in the north of the country and overlooks the Thermaic Gulf. It has the sophistication and cosmopolitan lifestyle of a major European city coupled with the serenity of a quaint seaside town.
While I immediately fell in love with Thessaloniki, I was also very impressed by the accommodation we had come to inspect. The Met Hotel is one of my new favorite luxury resorts in Greece. Want to know why? Read our full review of The Met Hotel here.
After enjoying the beach at Thessaloniki a little, we headed further around the coast to the well-known vacation destination of Halkidiki (with a quick stop off for some wine tasting along the way). I stayed in the Sani Resort in Halkidiki which I thoroughly recommend. It’s one of the perfect luxury resorts in Greece for those who want to reside in luxury yet have quick access to beaches, forests, and nature walks.
Moving off of the mainland, my next destination was a part of the country I had been to before to vet hotels for our clients: the island of Mykonos. EliteLYFE offer a number of luxury resorts in Greece, however, this was an opportunity to expand our range a little, including a tour of the hotly anticipated Bill and Coo Suites & Lounge.
Mykonos was everything I remembered it to be: an exclusive island paradise with luxurious touches throughout. Bill and Coo was one of the luxury resorts in Greece which we were adding to our range. It seemed to perfectly balance all the elements which our clients look for in a luxury vacation. Those interested can read our full review of Bill and Coo Suites & Lounge in Mykonos.
To finish off my tour of luxury resorts in Greece, my final destination was Secret Suites & Spa on the upmarket island of Santorini. Located on the hillside with endless panoramic views of the sea, this boutique hotel seemed to perfectly balanced the warmth of friendliness with a strong sense of individual privacy.
